General Information

This course is designed to familiarize the scholar with the philosophy of information, the informational turn(s) in philosophy and logic, and various topics in the logic of information and informational logic (and the reason for the distinction), the metaphysics of information, and the metametaphysics of information. Significant attention will be given to the juxtaposition of pluralism about the nature of information and unificatory conceptions of information, the reasons for the wide variety of different conceptions of the nature of information, and the relationship of informational ontologies and ontologies of information to non-informational and traditional metaphysical theories and positions.
